Karen’s career began as a model in her home town, London, England. This allowed her to travel all over Europe, and other parts of the world, modeling for print ads, fashion catalogs, and TV commercials. She actually won a car in a huge contest! You’ll have to ask her about that!
Ultimately, her love for singing and songwriting lead her to transition into the music industry. In 1999, she recorded and released a number of songs which reached Top 10 on the European Independent Country Airplay charts.
In 2002, Karen moved to Nashville, TN. She began collaborating and networking with local songwriters, record producers, and label executives. She performed her songs at the Bluebird Café, and other famous songwriter venues. Later, after forming her band, she played shows at the Exit/In, Hard Rock Café, and Wildhorse Saloon and in 2005 was invited to perform on the International stage at CMA Fest, which she also emceed on the Riverfront stages that year.
While Karen’s music career was in full swing, she met a local radio personality who introduced her to the Program Director for 95.5 WSM-FM. He loved her English accent and immediately wanted to put her on the air. Karen was reluctant, but up for the challenge. She quickly learned how to run the studio mixing board and before long was producing and hosting her own live radio show. Soon, Karen’s voice was recognized far and wide, as 95.5 The Wolf rocketed from 4th place in the market to the #1 spot. She spent 5 years on-air at 95.5 The Wolf, hosted events at the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, interviewed Country artists at the CMA and CMT awards (Keith Urban was her favorite!) and voiced hundreds of radio commercials.
In 2008, Cumulus Broadcasting launched 97.1 RQQ (Nashville’s Rock station), and Karen was asked to move down the hallway to host the mid-day show. She has some hilarious stories about being on this station!
Video production and casting seemed the natural progression for Karen, after radio. She has spent the past 10 years working with nationally known production companies, ad agencies and directors, casting talent and helping to produce numerous TV commercials, music videos, short films and children’s programing.
Karen has a heart for helping the homeless, people struggling with addiction, and survivors of human trafficking. Her pro bono casting work with the Nashville Filmmakers Guild for “Lewis’ Story” to benefit Project Return, and the short film “Every Two Minutes” to raise awareness for End Slavery TN, are some of the projects she is most proud of.
As a huge fan of musical theater, she enjoys mixing work and pleasure, as she can scout talent at the same time as enjoying the show! When Karen is not casting for projects, you can find her serving with the Worship team at one of Cross Point church campuses, writing songs and creating content for Children’s TV shows.
She is very thankful for the amazing career she’s had so far, and looks forward to new opportunities to make a difference in the world.
